I can not tell you about this cult game, especially in its time. I met her when I did not have my own computer.
But I went to courses like "computer literacy". Because computers games a much more interesting than working in Word or something else. One day I went to school and saw that many on computers running some new game, which I did not know. Looking closely, I saw that the pictures were bright, colorful, beautiful. They had some green substance, which I initially took for a famous ninja turtles. I decided that this is a game in which you want to manage them. Then I learned that this is not ninja turtles, and "orcs" - some Magazine as being similar to ours, Russian "sprites", just very angry and belligerent. By the way, the whole game Warcraft II takes place in some fantasy universe, similar to the later European Middle Ages. Only with an abundance of magic, well, fabulous creatures, of course.
In a game there is a 2 main militant opponent - are people and the orcs. You can choose to play either one side or another. Some of the war, "people" are the elves (for example, elves-archers), while the orcs in the army may be the trolls and gnomes, but still the warring parties are called "people" and "orcs". Probably, under the name of the main representatives. The player must collect resources - timber, gold, and (in some levels) oil. In exchange for the extracted can erect buildings or buy fighters and builders. All living creatures in the game are divided into 2 main types - they are workers (people peasants, the orcs - slaves) and wariors (a huge number of species from both sides). There is neutral creatures - animals, but they have no special role to play. Performers are more like decorations. Work units (being) can build and repair buildings, and bring resources - to chop wood and mine gold. Warriors can only fight - some on land, others on the water, grated in the air. In every unit has its own characteristics, inherent in its class - its speed, radius of the view, attack power, power armor, living units. Each unit - the worker, soldier, archer, kamikaze, griffins, magicians, etc. very unique in their properties, which adds to the game interesting. And also allows you to build a strategy for the use of their war. All this sounds to someone who do not know is difficult. But actually play the game fairly easy. A knowledge of all the details completely optional in the initial levels of companies. And over time, quite easily and quickly start learn in all the subtleties of military affairs in Warcraft.
In this game I played for hours and days, because like all strategies, it requires a lot of time. I played myself, played with friends. We competed, who continue to be held, played one by one. Tried and at the same time together - against each other. However, the technical possibilities at that time rarely allowed the online battle. But anyway, to play together (who knows, he would agree) is always more interesting to many times. Only after I am done with all this game, my interest with it a little diminished. But then, I have often called her "long cold nights" until a third part. Oh, yes! The third part - a general "something"! But I will tell you about it another time.
